Legends of Learning Trailer - Storyboard & Illustration

Storyboard & Line Art for Legends of Learning Trailer
PROJECT TYPE: STORYBOARD, ILLUSTRATION
PROJECT DURATION: MAY 2018 - JUNE 2018

OVERVIEW
About the Project
I worked on this project during my time at we.R.play, a game development studio based in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The idea was to create an illustrated, story-based trailer for Legends of Learning, a marketplace for research driven, curriculum-based games that teachers can use to make classrooms productive and fun. The trailer was illustration-based with a voice-over and subtle parallax animations.

MY ROLE
Concepts, Storyboards, Illustrations and Learning
I worked on conceptualising the storyboard based on the guidelines and content provided by the Art director, content writers, and other stakeholders. This included creating multiple thumbnails for every scene, each with a unique composition. Once the thumbnails were finalised, I worked on sketching out the final scenes on Photoshop and switched to Illustrator for the final line art. The entire process involved multiple revisions and a whole lot of learning.

THUMBNAILS
Starting Out with Multiple Options
I created multiple thumbnails for each scene, based on the story provided. The best compositions were shortlisted for the final line art.

SKETCHES
Shortlisting Thumbnails & Moving to Sketches
Once the compositions were finalised, we moved forward to the sketching phase. I created sketches in Photoshop. These were to be used as a base for the final line art in Illustrator.

LEARNING
Revisions and Learning
Each scene was a new challenge for me, as I learnt to grasp complicated perspectives. Under the guidance of the Project Manager/Art Director, I was able to produce accurate perspectives and high quality, detailed line art.

The most fulfilling bit for me was seeing the differences after the revisions and learning where I was making mistakes. I appreciated the time I was given to learn and fix my errors, and getting the guidance I needed from the Art Director.
